Pani Popo (Samoan Coconut Rolls)


  • 12-20 frozen dinner rolls depending on size (see note above for homemade rolls)
  • 1 10 oz. can coconut milk
  • 1 c. sugar


  • Coat a 9x13 glass baking dish with change of state spray and organize rolls equally to thaw (if doing do-it-yourself rolls, roll dough into golf-ball size balls and organize a similar way).
  • cowl with wrapper sprayed with change of state spray (to keep dough from jutting to the plastic wrap).
  • permit to rise till doubled in size. this may take 4-5 hours. If you wish the rolls to thaw faster, follow the quick-rise directions on the frozen roll packaging.
  • Pre-heat kitchen appliance to 350-degrees.
  • In a bowl, mix coconut milk and sugar and whisk till sugar is dissolved.
  • Pour concerning 2/3 of the coconut mixture over the rolls and bake for 20-30 minutes (or in line with package/dough instruction instructions) or till golden brown and dough is baked through.
  • take away from kitchen appliance and pour remaining coconut mixture equally over the highest of the rolls.
  • The rolls ought to be sticky and adhesive on very cheap (read notes above). is served the other way up or right-side up.
